Important Announcement / Notice to Clients

One of the greatest challenges for Health Service Providers, especially in rural areas, is the recruitment and retention of Medical Practitioners. Rainbow Valley CHC has proven to be no exception. Please be advised that Dr. Anne Martin will not be returning to her Rainbow Valley position following her maternity leave.

We are currently actively recruiting for both a Physician and Nurse Practitioner for the Rainbow Valley site. Although we will be unable to provide the same level of care in the immediate future, arrangements have been made until the end of February 2010 to manage prescription refills and to provide some basic supportive care and follow-up to test results.

Until a Physician or Nurse Practitioner is recruited, we will be reducing our clinical services; however, we will continue and enhance nursing services and health promotion activities such as laboratory services, foot care, blood pressure checks, and other chronic disease monitoring, health education and social worker (Jackie Goodheart) counseling services.

We will be assisting people to find services as needed by providing interim care, investigating locum opportunities and directing clients to the Ontario Health Care website (http://www.ontario.ca/healthcare) options or the Ontario Health Care Connect toll free phone line at 1-800-445-1822. In addition clients with urgent medical concerns should seek assistance at their closest Hospital Emergency Department.

Once again, we want to assure you that we are doing all we can to actively recruit a Physician and Nurse Practitioner for the Rainbow Valley CHC. Feel free to direct questions or concerns to (613) 757-0004.
